Art Spotlight: Liv Tyler

Featuring a write-up from the artist themselves.

My best pieces happen when I am feeling an intense emotion and need to let it out. This painting was no different. It was November 2024, I started this piece a week before the election, feeling so much uncertainty, then the results came, and this piece was completed. This piece began in a moment of uncertainty, evolved to devastation, and finally formed into determination. The deep yellows and reds represent the frustration and fear, and was also a representation of the negativity and evil I felt was afoot. The blue and the cascading white is the hope, the light, the the promise that if we remain-

-committed to what is good to what is right, and hold onto hope, it will be alright.

It can feel challenging to make art in times of such uncertainty and atrocity. Feeling uninspired, but also feeling guilty to carry on. However art and self expression is vital even in times of unrest. Carrying on, creating, living, despite it all is a protest, it is how we keep our power.

I recently graduated college and took my art business full time. I’ve been running my business for 6 years but getting to focus on it fully has been such a gift. I’ve also been streaming on twitch for over 5 years. Doing both of these together has been so fulfilling. As I typically work from home, streaming is such a great way to connect and be social. Through streaming I have been able to build a collector base around the world and make friends in places I’ve never been to, which is so special. Being my own boss and running my own business has been such an incredible experience, it allows me the freedom to live my life the way I want to.
